Introduction

 

Since the 1980s, Chinese contemporary art has undergone a transformative journey from learning Western modernism to establishing its own cultural identity. Artists of the post-80s generation, growing up in a globalized context, have transcended the constraints of traditional versus Western dichotomies, freely expressing individual experiences and spiritual worlds. Born in 1980, Liu Dongfeng centers his practice on intense individual perception and spiritual exploration, constructing a unique visual language through the interplay of color and form. The exhibition Revelation: Wings of the Soul focuses on Liu Dongfeng’s key works from 2024, showcasing his diverse reflections on nature, the cosmos, the passage of time, and the cycle of life.
