Zhao Shao'ang (1905-1998), also known as Zhao Shuyi, was from Panyu, Guangdong. He was one of the outstanding painter of the Lingnan Painting School. At the age of 16, he started to learn painting at the Aesthetics School founded by Gao Qifeng, a master of the Lingnan Painting School. In 1930, his works was exhibited at the Belgian World Expo and won the gold medal award; in the same year, he founded "Lingnan Arts School" in Guangzhou. Since then, he has held a number of individual exhibitions throughout the country. He is good at painting birds and flowers, creating thousands of flowers, birds, and landscape works and renowned at home and abroad.
