Hu Yichuan
Hu Yichuan (1910--2000), formerly known as Hu Yichun, was from Yongding, Fujian. In 1929, he was admitted to Hangzhou West Lake National Arts Institute, organized the "Yiba Arts Society" with his classmates, and participated in the new woodcut movement led by Lu Xun; in 1938, he served as director of the Woodcut Research Class of Lu Xun Arts and Literature Institute; after 1949, he served as professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, principal of the Central China Academy of Fine Arts, principal of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, executive director of China Artists Association, tenured professor of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and consultant of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He was good at oil painting and woodcut. He published serval personal collections, including the Collection of Hu Yichuang's Oil Paintings.
