A speech delivered by deputy director of National Art Museum of China (NAMOC)

    On the morning of August 16, News Release for the 4th Guangzhou Triennial was held in Beijing and present at the news release were Zhu Di, deputy general director of Art Department of Ministry of Culture, Liang Jiang, deputy director of National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), Luo Yiping, vice chairman of Guangdong Artists' Association and director of Guangdong Museum of Art, Jiang Jiehong and Jonathan Watkins, curators of “Theme Exhibition” of the 4th Guangzhou Triennial, Zhang Xudong, curator for Forum  of the 4th Guangzhou Triennial, etc., and the press conference was chaired by Wang Jia, director of the Media Office of Guangzhou Triennial.

    At the press conference, Zhu Di, deputy director general of Art Department of Ministry of Culture, and Liang Jiang, deputy director of National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), respectively made a speech. Luo Yiping gave more details about the structural framework and the theme of Guangzhou Triennial; Zhang Xudong, as the chief curator of the forum, introduced the origin of the forum and the theme, time, place and other specific details about each stop; Jiang Jiehong and Jonathan Watkins, curators of “Theme Exhibition” of the 4th Guangzhou Triennial, give their different interpretations of the theme exhibition “The Unseen” ; Zhang Kexin, one of the curators of “Inauguration Exhibition” of the 4th Guangzhou Triennial, Wang Lin, Zuo Zhengrao, Gao Ling, curators of “Project Exhibition”, and Chen Lingzhen, who is in charge of documentary section of the inauguration exhibition, respectively made their speeches at the press conference.

    The 4th Guangzhou Triennial at Guangdong Museum of Art will be “totally different from any other previous international Biennial or Triennial held in any other areas in the world”. It, mainly consisting of “Inauguration Exhibition, “Project Exhibition” and “Theme Exhibition”, will be simultaneously carried out together with the progress of the extension project of Guangdong Museum of Art and the detailed schedule will be gradually announced. The 4th Guangzhou Triennial kicking off with “Inauguration Exhibition” and the Triennial Forum by taking the domestic and overseas five project exhibitions as the case study and exploration process will come to a close by presenting the Theme Exhibition and Theme Exhibition Forum, which will turn out to be a dynamic ‘Triennial’” for a period of more than three years.
