Claire CHASE (USA)

Flutist Claire Chase, described as "spectacular" by the New Yorker and praised for her "rare combination of grace and guts" by the Wall Street Journal, is active as a soloist, collaborative artist and activist for experimental music. Over the past decade she has given the world premieres of more than 100 new works for flute, and she has given critically acclaimed solo recitals recently at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Great Performers Series at Lincoln Center and throughout the US, Europe and Latin America. Ms. Chase serves as Artistic Director of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), a nonprofit organization which she founded in 2001. She lives in Brooklyn.
