反映奥地利建筑从古代传统到现代发展的“奥地利建筑展”将在中国美术馆和广东美术馆先后举办，这是中奥两国文化交流十分重要也是十分有特色的项目，我们表示热烈地欢迎。
作为这个展览的策划人，汉斯 赫莱恩教授精心考虑了这个展览的主题和结构。当2006年春天我们到维也纳拜会他的时候，一踏进他的工作室，只见满墙挂着关于这个展览的图片。我们未及寒暄，他就将策划的构想和展览的结构娓娓道来，那份情景令我们难忘。汉斯 赫莱恩教授是一位在奥地利建筑历史方面十分博学的专家，又是一位在当代建筑的展览策划上十分有经验的专家，同时还是一位著名的建筑师。我们深深感到，在展览的策划中，他将理论研究和自身的实践经验相结合，使这个展览具有严谨的结构、清晰的线索和丰富的内容。它将展示奥地利建筑设计的历史演变和众多优秀的奥地利建筑设计作品，让中国建筑界和社会公众认识奥地利建筑的历史进程，也通过展览结识许多奥地利当代建筑师。我们还特别赞赏他把历史上中国建筑与欧洲建筑的关系提示出来，这使得展览更有文化见地的勾连起中奥两国文化交流的渊源，由此增进两国人民的友谊。
众所周知，进入21世纪的中国，建筑业已成为社会发展突出的视觉标志，方兴未艾的建筑和急剧的“都市化”进程改变着人们的生活空间和生活方式。与此同时，在建筑设计上如何积极吸收当代国际建筑设计的优长，又承传与体现本土的传统文化精神，也是中国建筑界和文化界经常讨论的课题。为此，来自奥地利的这个建筑展将能引起中国建筑界的学术关注，同时引发广大公众的兴趣。
我们要感谢中奥两国政府对这次展览的重视和支持，特别感谢中国文化部部长孙家正先生对展览的关心。他一向重视和提倡建筑设计的艺术性和文化性，把建筑设计和城市建设视为整个社会文化发展的有机组成部分。因此，中国美术馆和广东美术馆都经常举办各种类型的建筑艺术展，以引动社会对建筑文化的关注。实际上，这也是在恢复一种传统：在人类艺术发展的史册中，建筑从来就是最早的篇章，也是艺术发展长河中最闪亮的篇章。

We would like to welcome sincerely the exhibition “Sculptural Austrian Architecture” at the National Art Museum of China and the Guangdong Museum of Art. The exhibition reflects the development of Austrian architecture from ancient tradition to modern times and represents a very special and an extremely important project in the cultural exchange between China and Austria.
Professor Hans Hollein as the curator of this exhibition carefully selected the concept and structure of this exhibition. On our visit to his studio in Vienna in the spring of 2006, we immediately saw that his walls were full of pictures for this exhibition. Before we could even exchange greetings, he launched into the unforgettable, vivid details and explanation of the concept and structure of the exhibition. Professor Hollein is not only a famous architect but also a top expert in the history of Austrian architecture, and greatly experienced in the planning of exhibitions about contemporary architecture. We were absolutely convinced of his ability to combine that theoretical research and personal experience in the conception of the exhibition giving it a rigid structure, a clear line and rich content. The exhibition shows the historical changes of Austrian architecture and a multitude of extraordinary works of 'Austrian architecture It provides an insight into the development of Austrian architecture and introduces many contemporary Austrian architects to Chinese architects and the public. We are especially impressed by how he has brought out the historical relations between Chinese and European architecture, thus strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
The beginning of the 21st century has seen architecture in China as a visual sign of social development. Flourishing architecture and forced “urbanization” change the living space and living style of people. This exhibition of architecture from Austria will meet the academic interest of Chinese architects and will also awaken public interest.
We thank the governments of China and Austria for their attention and support for this exhibition, especially the Chinese Minister of Culture, Sun Jiazheng. He cherishes and always stresses the artistic and cultural values of architecture and views architecture and urban construction as organic building blocks of the cultural development of society. There fore the National Art Museum of China and the Art Museum Guangdong often organize all kinds of architectural exhibitions in order to influence society to pay more attention to the cultural meaning of architecture. This also represents the reestablishment of a tradition f in the book of the development of human art, architecture takes the first chapter, which also depicts the brightest chapter in the long development of art.
