“奥地利建筑艺术展”是奥地利几年来在建筑领域上的第二大展览。在2001年第一次展览的成功促使我再次请来国际著名设计师HansHollein 发展这个展览会的艺术性理念。
我认为这个展览是近年来中国和奥地利在当代艺术上成功合作的象征。它也体现了密切的文化和政策的关系。我很高兴我的中国同事孙家正（Sun Jiazheng）和我去年共同成功组织了大量的艺术交流项目，我愿借此机会表达我由衷的感谢他对这个富有成效的有意义的的合作。
奥地利是一个小国，但它有着重大的建筑成就。奥地利的建筑质量是举世闻名的，这点可以从数字客观的有关大型国际建筑项目来证实。而2001年在上海展出的“奥地利当代艺术、建筑及设计”，介绍奥地利当代艺术舞台“奥地利建筑艺术展”有着独特的建筑焦点，旨在传达一个历史追溯并展示了奥地利建筑设计从中世纪到现在的演变。
我要特别感谢展览厅的馆长Hans Hollein和他的团队，感谢国家艺术博物馆中的主任，Fan Di’an, 广东美术馆的馆长、Wang Huangsheng，以及他的员工的责任心和辛勤工作以取得了展览会的顺利进行。

“Sculptural Architecture in Austria” is the second major Austrian
exhibition relating to the sphere of architecture within a few years. The great
success of the first exhibition in 2001 has motivated me again to ask the
internationally renowned Austrian architect Hans Hollein to develop the artistic
concept of this exhibition.
I consider this exhibition to be a symbol of the successful cooperation between China and Austria in the area of contemporary art in recent years. It is also an expression of the close cultural-policy ties between our two countries. l am delighted that my Chinese colleague Sun Jiazheng and f have managed to organize a whole number of artistic exchanges in the last year, and l would like to take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt thanks to him for this fruitful and rewarding cooperation.
Austria is a small country but it has produced major architectural achievements. The quality of Austrian architects is recognized the world over, as is confirmed by the great number of international construction projects in which they are involved. Whereas the 2001 exhibition “Austrian Contemporary Art, Architecture and Design”, which was shown in Shanghai, presented Austria's contemporary art scene, “Sculptural Architecture in Austria” has a unique architectural focus and is designed to convey a historic retrospective and to present the evolution of Austrian architectural design from the Middle Ages to the present.
My special thanks go to the curator of the exhibition, Hans Hotlein, and his team, to the director of the National Art Museum in China, Fan Di'an, the director of the Guangdong Museum of Art, Wang Huangsheng, as well as to their staff whose commitment and hard work have made these exhibitions possible.
